Date of Passing:

12/10/2019

It’s with great sadness that we advise the passing on the weekend of our former colleague, Brian Ham, following a long illness. We would mostly remember Brian as our Qantas WA Accountant for many years.

Brian joined Qantas Empire Airways in mid 1950s, shortly after the opening of the first Qantas office in WA, in the basement of 87 St George’s Tce, Perth. This was in the days of the big prop aircraft (Lockheed Constellations, Super Constellations and Electras) multiple stop services to South Africa and to England from Perth. One can only begin to imagine the depth of experience and change Brian had encountered in his nearly forty years of service to the company until his departure in the early 1990s, upon the Qantas/Australian merger.

Those who worked with Brian would fondly remember, admire and respect Brian for his absolute professionalism and decency. Outside of work, Brian was a family man, sportsman and, for a number of years, a Councillor at the City of Stiring.

We will miss Brian greatly, and we extend our deepest condolences to Beverley and family. RIP, Brian.... From Tony McGrath, on behalf of the WA Red Tail Road to 100 committee
