It is my sad duty to advise the friends of Burt Parkins, the larger than life personality from Qantas South Australia that he died peacefully on the 20th March 2019. Burt was a much loved husband of Karen, Loving son of Mervyn and Ella (both deceased), dearly loved brother of Helen Cake, Brother-in-law of Warren Cake, Sonia and Peter
Sommers, Dale and Marivic Schulz.
Proud uncle to his nieces, nephews, great niece's and great nephew's.
During his 33 year Qantas career, Burt undertook duties in Fares and Ticketing in Sydney, opened our Mexico City office and managed the Booking Office and subsequently the Interline Office in Adelaide.
Although terrified of flying he flew 29 times to the USA, and many more Asian and European destinations promoting the Qantas brand.
His funeral was held on the 27 March in the presence of his friends and loved ones, former Qantas workmates and RSL buddies.
