John Rowe was born in Penguin, Tasmania on 11 June 1931 and died peacefully in Melbourne surrounded by family on 10 April 2024.
A Memorial Service was held on 23 April 2024 at St Johns, Toorak.
John had a distinguished career with Qantas and held several senior managerial/executive positions during the 1960s and 1970s. These positions included Manager Victoria SA & Tas, Regional Director North America based firstly in San Francisco then in New York, as well as Regional Director Australia.
After his career with Qantas, John went on to become Managing Director of Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Chairman of Northern Territory Commission in the 1990s.
Being a keen cricketer, John played for the Qantas Staff Cricket team, fielding in the Long Leg position, during the 1960s at Albert Park South Melbourne.
In recent years, John had gladly accepted the offer to become Patron for The Americas Chapter of Red Tail Reunions.
