Joined QF in 1962 as a Traffic Officer, based at Sydney Airport.
In either the end of 1963 or early 1964, applied for a place on the newly formed Trainee DSM's Course & gained a place.
After some years in Sales/Marketing, with a couple of overseas postings, was approached in 1974 by Trevor Chaseling to join the Security Dept in the Investigation Div, under Sam Brotherson to assist with enquiries into Company fraud matters.
From then on began an "apprenticeship", under Trevor & Sam's guidance in all aspects of aviation security. I ended up taking various management positions, continually travelling to problem areas.
(In 1988, both Trevor & Sam retired & Ron Armstrong took over as Head of Security).
When the TN/QF merger occurred, it meant merging the 2 Security Depts, with the inevitable loss of some personnel from either airline.
I knew Geoff Askew from his TN days where we had worked on a couple of jobs together. When he became Head of Security he appointed me Regional Security Manager, a position I held until retirement in 1996.
I was approached by the Security Company , SNP Security to join them as an Aviation Security Consultant, which I subsequently accepted & still do part-time work for them today.
