John Weekes

John commenced his life with Qantas about 1956 shortly after the Qantas office was opened, as the office boy as there were no telex facilities in the office and all messages were taken by hand to the Post Office for transmission. He attained the position of Reservations and Ticket Office Supervisor following Ray Jeppesen’s transfer to Sydney. John was selected to partake in the DSM trainee program and was transferred to New York in charge of the booking office. Following that appointment, he returned to Sydney and eventually transferred back to Perth in Traffic at Perth Airport.
