Hi All

Received the following email, tribute regarding a former colleague Joy Ferry who worked for Qantas during an era many of us may remember.

“I have this morning spoken to Neil Ferry, Joy Ferry’s husband, and he let me know that Joy passed away “a couple of months ago” Joy was 96.

He says they had a Private Family Funeral for Joy.

Neil told me that Joy had very bad Dementia and at the end she passed quietly.

Joy was a wonderful friend, a lovely person, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her went away with a happy memory.

She was a lady and definitely from the Old School. She was also a Lady in Black, in her early years before she joined Qantas.
She would often talk about going to work at David Jones and how she had to wear a hat a gloves.

Joy joined Qantas in the early 1950’s along with many of the older ladies, who worked in Senior positions throughout the Company as Executive Secretaries. Her last position was executive secretary to the director of personnel. She had a long career and retired from the Airline.

I guess she is now the last of those dear “Qantas Old Girls” from whom we learnt so much.”
