Peter joined Qantas on 13 December 1961 as part of the Junior Commercial Trainee (JCT) 1962 Intake.
The formative part of his career was in Sales, namely the Agency Desk in 70 Hunter St on the mezzanine floor. He was a strong player in the infamous team which included Keith Sterland, Noeline Smith (nee Cunningham) under Grahame Selleck as the Manager. I believe Edith Matthews was also part of the team before her Training years.
In 1969 Peter was posted to New Guinea as part of the Sales force in Qantas Port Moresby.
Qantas was a family affair for the Lysaght's with his brother John being a Captain for Qantas (now well retired).
Peter also spent a number of years as the Travel Centre Supervisor at Qantas Parramatta working with Ian Robinson and Florina Vanderwaals in the team.
Peter left Qantas in 1982 along with many others in a large group of voluntary redundancies.
He joined OTC (Overseas Telecommunications) in Martin Place and worked as a Travel Co-Ordinator, organising travel for their Executives.
