Country/State:
Australia/NSW
Home City:

Date of Passing:
12/05/2024
Sadly, Warwick Taaffe passed away on Sunday 12 May 2024 aged 77.
Following a fall on Anzac Day, he was put into Hornsby Hospiital in the ICU. Declining health eventually led to his passing away.
Warwick joined Qantas as a JCT on the 1967 intake. On completing his time on the Scheme, he moved into the Sales Department.
As one of four people, Warwick was selected to work in the London Ticket Office to learn Boadicea (the British Airways Reservation System), the forerunner to Qantam, the first of Qantas’ computer reservations systems.
They were tasked to train all of Qantas’ sales staff and associated airlines, on the new Qantam. However, Warwick then took the opportunity to transfer to the Fares and Ticketing training section.
He was a proud long term Trinity boy and excelled in most sports, particularly cricket and rugby union. Following school, he became a mainstay, at fly half (5/8th), of the 1st Grade Drummoyne Rugby Union team, known as the 'Dirty Reds'. That is, until injuries prevailed.
He will be privately cremated.
May he rest in peace.
